About Muse and Your Information

Muse is the first online tool to inspire brides to create and share their wedding experiences. Throughout our development stages we will give members more options to add/edit and share their personal data. When you submit your information on your Muse, any public member on Muse can view it. This information will include:

  • First and Last Name of members (depending on options you select)
  • Email Address of members
  • Gender, Age, Location (e.g., city and state) and other similar personal information
  • Information submitted about weddings (location and other specifics) and vendors
  • Photos, Videos and other media content uploaded by members
  • Comments submitted by other Muse member

Your Muse, Your Choice

At Muse, we give you options on how much or little you want to publish, share or receive. Based on these options, you can limit how public your profile will be.

Members that knowingly submit public information, such as your Muse profile, will make that information available for all Muse members to view. Muse members can search and get in touch with you, add you as a friend or post comments on your published items. You should also be aware that Members may reveal additional personal information while communicating on other areas of Muse, such as while participating in discussions and/or posting information. You can edit your personal preferences to limit how visible you information is to users. In the current Muse version, you can limit the ability for public members to view comments posted by your Muses or other members in the community.

All such sharing of information is done at your own risk. Please keep in mind that if you disclose personal information in your profile or when posting comments, messages, photos, videos, or other items, this information may become publicly available.

Muse may send you service and vendor related announcements from time to time through the general operation of the service. For instance, if a vendor in your network sends you a message or if someone adds you as a friend, you may receive an email alerting you to that fact.

Generally, emails and newsletters from Muse allow you to opt out of further mailings. Members that no longer wish to receive updates or other email notifications may opt-out by following the instructions contained in the applicable email or by logging-in and changing information in the "Account settings" section. You can access this page by clicking on the "My Account" page. However, Muse reserves the right to send you notices about your account even if you opt-out of all voluntary email notifications.

Collecting and Using Your Information

When you join Muse there are two types of information we have on record: personal information you knowingly submit to the public (your Muse Profile, ideas you post in the Community Area, etc.) and information we gather from the site (personally identifiable information, like names, postal addresses, email addresses, etc.). Any personal information is voluntarily submitted by our visitors. Additional information you provide is used to fulfill specific member requests. This information is only used to fulfill your specific request, unless you give us permission to use it in another manner, for example to add you to one of our email lists.

Muse may use information you knowingly submit to the public without identifying you as an individual to third parties. We do this for purposes such as aggregating how many members are attending a certain honeymoon spot or wedding venue given their specific network. We can then best place the right advertisements and vendors in contact with you. For example, if you are going to Tahiti on your honeymoon, we might have an advertisement by a South Pacific travel agent in your network. The travel agent will never know that it was your profile that specifically listed a honeymoon in Tahiti. But, we'll give you the ability to get in touch with them anyway.

Finally, we also collect some information from members, as well as from other visitors to Muse, that is not personally identifiable, such as browser type and IP address. This information is gathered from all Members and visitors to the website. It helps us know how our members make use of our applications so we can provide you with better service each version.

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

At Muse, we do not share your information with third-parties unless you let us. We do share information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigation. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorized transactions; or, (3) investigating fraud which has already taken place. The information is not provided to these agencies or companies for marketing purposes.

Because you will be looking for specific help and resources during your wedding (vendors and other third-party services) there are some third-parties that are members of or partners with Muse that can assist you. Any information that you post publicly may be shared with these third-parties. We only offer the option for these third-parties to contact you if we believe it will be a great service to you. We let you chose how much or little information to share. You may opt-out of any sharing of certain or all information with third-party Muse vendors on the "My Account" section page.

Security

All personally identifiable information (password, credit card information) is kept secure. We password protect your accounts. Only authorized employees, agents and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. We use industry standard measures to protect all information that is stored on our servers and within our database.

Cookies

Depending on the features offered, we may use cookie and tracking technology. Cookie and tracking technology is useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, tracking the number of visitors to Muse, and understanding how visitors use Muse. Cookies can also help customize Muse for visitors. Personal information cannot be collected via cookies and other tracking technology; however, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information.

Aggregate cookie and tracking information may be shared with third parties. Our advertising partners may also use cookies. Doing this allows the ad network to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement. In this way, ad networks may compile information about where you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. This information allows an ad network to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. Muse does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed on the computer of any member. This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by Muse only, and does not cover the use of cookies by any other party.
